Synopsis
Detective Helen Grace has never seen such destruction. Six fires in twenty-four hours. Two people dead. Several more injured. It’s as if someone wants to burn the city to the ground...

With the whole town on high alert, Helen and her team must sift through the rubble to find the arsonist, someone whose thirst for fire—and control—is reducing entire lives to ashes.
One misstep could mean Helen’s career—and more lives lost. And as the pressure mounts and more buildings burn, Helen’s own dark impulses threaten to consume her…

My thoughts
In my opinion, this is the best book in the series. Where the third book didn't really strike me, and the first and second book were good, this one was THE BEST. M.J. Arlidge uses short chapters and in the third book, it kinda annoyed me to be switched from person to person and into different situations. I don't know what was different, but in this book, it worked for me. I rushed through!

Pros
  • Best in the series: I gave the first and second book 4 stars on Goodreads and the third book 3 stars. This book is better an the books that came before. I can't do anything than give the book 5 stars!!
  • A lot of potential killers: It's great that the book has a lot of potential killers. I thought I'd figured it out 3 times, before I knew who the real killer was. All the other people that I had suspicions about were good potential suspects! It's always nice to be proven wrong when the plot comes together, I didn't see it coming and that's what makes a book a good book.
  • Fast paced: The short chapters bothered me in the third book. I felt rushed instead of a book with a good pace. In this book it didn't bother me at all. I can't tell you what the difference is, but I liked it. You switch between different people and different situations. I also liked the fact that blogposts were a part of the book, a nice new addition.
  • Ending: GREAT ONE! I can't tell you too much without spoiling, but the confrontation with the killer was something I did not see coming. It was a refreshing ending, one that I haven't seen in a book very often. And then the last few sentences in this book... Whoo! I liked it so much. Can't wait for the next book...
Cons
Can't help you with that.

Overall
A refreshing book in this series about the intriguing Helen Grace. Where the first three books felt kinda the same, this book had little details that were different. Instead of feeling rushed, I felt like this was a book with a good, fast pacing. Helen Grace, your not-so-ordinary detective is the superstar in another great book! Like I said, can't wait for the next book. And tell you what; I'll be reading it in July!
