Synopsis
Fallen from Heaven and forced to live amongst the humans in exile, angel Ezekiel bares the tragic fate of a disgraced angel. Having overheard the rebellious Lucifer’s plans to rise up against the sanctuary of Heaven, Ezekiel remains silent, and for his inaction, he is cast from the pearly gates and onto the unforgiving lands of the mortals. Two thousand years pass with a cold and hollow wind at his back, and for a moment, Ezekiel resigns to his fate.

However, in the year 2016, the winds of fate begin to change, and redemption comes in the form of his brother, Gabriel, who bares great news. Ezekiel is given a chance to return to Heaven, but only once he has taken down Molach, an evil demon on the rise. If Ezekiel can stop Molach from helping Lucifer return, he will be welcomed back into Heaven. However, there is more than just a demon in his path, Ezekiel must uncover what else fate has in store for him, including a lovely solitary Prophetess named Isabelle and the endless possibility for joy and whimsy she offers

My thoughts
This book was a very enjoyable Fantasy book full of action with some pretty cool characters in it. I absolutely LOVE the cover! I've seen a review for this book on Goodreads with 1-star and I do NOT agree with that. The writing is good, the characters are good and the storyline is pretty good as well. So I'm going to give this book 4 apples, also to tell people; this is not a bad book! I do believe the story can use some polishing, and I will tell you more about it in this review! Do believe me, I've been pondering over the 3-apples/4-apples question for a long time...

Pros
  • Characters: I love me a good book full of vampires, angels and werewolves. This book involves those characters and also a good deal of history on them. I do believe that the history and explanation about the different type of characters is what makes it so believable together with the personalities blended in. For example, you have all these angels, but their personalities are different and that's what makes me remember them.
  • Witty and snarky prophetess: The prophetess with her foul mouth. I love me a good badass woman in a book and here you have one! She is fierce, but also womanly. She is badass, but does show emotions. She is definitely my favorite character in this book, by far!
  • Curious about what's to come: I do hope there is more to come. I have so many questions and I'm not done yet with this storyline and these characters! I hope that I'm able to read and review the next book, because it left me aching for more. I told you in other reviews; A BIG pro when you need more from a book/series.
Cons
  • Fingerflicking/lip biting: I do understand if some character traits are needed for a character, but this prophetess is flicking her finger 46 times and biting her lips 94 times. It's too much. It needs to be subtle and it kinda annoyed me at some point...
  • What was the "goal" again? I forgot what the big problem/goal was in the plot halfway through. I did read it within 3 days, but there were so many sidelines that I lost track a bit. Could be my fault, but maybe the book needed to keep the plot hot.
Overall
If you're a sucker for a good Fantasy book, this could be one for you. I certainly hope that people will try this book and give this author a chance of keeping this bookseries alive! I hope I've triggered your curiosity and I really think that Desy Smith deserves more people to read and rate her books.
There is a disclaimer; This novel does contain a potty mouth female protagonist. If abrasive language offends you, this novel is not for you.
It's my cup of tea though...

Memorable quotes from this book
"However, I have learned if you allow fear to run your life, you will accomplish nothing worthwhile."

As a blogger/reviewer; do you give 1-ratings often?!
