Synopsis
This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

My thoughts
This book is so unique, it's like NO OTHER I've ever read. It takes a bit of time to get into, because you read a very big document folder that will explain the story to you. You'll read chat conversations, emails, observations but also information from the AI on board. I love this book so much. I remember I was reading it Christmas 2016 and I felt like starting over when I was in the middle of the book. I just didn't want it to end.

Pros
  • Unique format: Like I said in my intro; this format is so unique. I have never seen anything like it. It looks very good on the inside as well, it's so well thought through. I love the way the swear words are blacked out. I love the way the chat messages contain typo's. This is genius; You read all these different files that are an awesome story all together.
  • Creepy: Okay so there is a high creepyness-factor in this book and I LOVE IT. It gave me the chills and I haven't read this book before going to bed at some point because it's just frightening. It starts like something very small and not that alarming and grows out into something... Your usual zombie is nothing compared to it.
  • Action packed: I love the action. The book starts with a great dose of action as well and it never settles down into something boring or something that is dragging on. So many things are going on, on so many levels.
  • People die: YES! Some deaths did hurt me a bit, but I just love it when you read a book and the author could be killing on of your favorite characters. It keeps you on edge and it makes the book even more thrilling.

Cons
Don't look at me.

Overall
Entertaining, creepy, romantic, action packed and a lot of WTF-moments. Even if you're not the biggest Sci-Fi fan, this could be a very entertaining book. Give it some time to get into and you'll be swept in maybe your next favorite series!
