My thoughts
At the beginning of this month, I reviewed Claimed by Andrea R. Cooper. I really liked the book and I was so curious about this book too. Sadly it did not leave up to my expectations at all.
Pros
- Ending: What's strong about this book is that it ends with a big mystery. If I liked the book more, I would've been so curious about the next book, because a lot of questions are unanswered. I can imagine that a reader would love to start the second book right away.
- Fast paced: The book is not dull. There is enough happening on the way, a lot of action and the book has a good pacing. That's also the main reason I finished it.
- Shifter animals: The way people have certain benefits that match their shifter animal is very cool. I could imagine a world with all these different shifter animals and all those people having cool different abilities.
Cons
- Main character: Nope. I do not like Beth. She is so immature... At some point she is very worried about her mother and at the same time drooling about a guy that is hot and gorgeous and how she doesn't want to lose him while she only knows him for a day. She gets mad so fast and keeps running away from grown-up conversations. She is 18, but acts like she is 13. Bleh.
- Personalities: The personalities in this book are so shallow. I don't care for any of the characters even the ones that are in danger or maybe even dead. I would've loved for this book to be a bit longer and for the characters have better development by telling me more about them.
- Weird choices: The main character is making weird choices. She is so mad at her father and not concerned about him at all, while she is concerned for the cute little boy playing on the grass with his ball. It's so weird.
- Made up on the way: I feel like this story is made up on the way, without having a plan or a plot to write towards. Random facts get thrown in your face that could've been made up on the spot, just to give the story a different edge.
Overall
Not my book. The main character is so annoying to me that I can't even like the story because of her. It's a nice world, with shifters from all different animals, but I couldn't care for any of the characters and the story. So sad.
