Synopsis
Luck had not gone my way when Warren Shipley, one of the nation’s wealthiest men hired me to play arm-candy in order to save face with the other one percenters he did business with. At least that’s what I thought when I arrived in Washington, DC, until I was met by old man Shipley’s debonair and insanely handsome son. Aaron Shipley was notably the youngest senator in the history of politics voted Senator of California at the tender age of thirty-five. Single, beyond rich, and the face of every political magazine around the US.

My thoughts
I hear you thinking: Why are you still reading these books?! Well, I want to know how this series end! I'm just too curious and the books only take 1 hour and a half to finish, so why not?! I'm still not enjoying the books that much and I find even more things that annoy me... I know I'm not that kind right now, but I also don't really understand the 4.05 score this book is getting, as well as the other books, always 4 or higher. I just don't understand.

Pros
  • I want to know: I just want to know how this series will end. I'm curious if this author is going to surprise me or that I'm just going to finish this series feeling that this wasn't my cup of tea. The books aren't that hard to read and to finish, so for now, I'm holding on!
Cons
  • Sexual assault: This is so weird... Mia is being sexually assaulted in her sleep and the way she handles it, is not how she usually reacts to guys. After that something similar happens and the way Mia handles herself and the situation is so weird and not like her at all. I also felt like it didn't add anything to the story. So WHY?!
  • Mia the good shepherd: Mia is, in every book, bringing people together and doing all these good things but it feels so forced. It makes me cringe and it's just getting too much. She is just having sex with all these people all month and all of a sudden they feel like family. Weird.
  • Inconstant: Mia is questioning the way she is handling the situation with her family and being an escort at the same time. I liked how she was thinking at some point but all of a sudden she wants different things and is doing the complete opposite of what she was thinking. It doesn't make sense.
Overall
It's still a big compliment to Audrey Carlan that I still want to know how this series end, while I'm not enjoying the books that much. Maybe it's not my thing. Maybe I feel like being an escort is romanticized (is that a word?) in this book... Maybe these books are not for deep thinking and being overly critical, but I just don't feel the connection with the main character and the book while reading it. Combined with the sappy thoughts, loads of sex scenes and weird choices from the main character, I'm still not feeling it.

Thanks for reading!
