Synopsis
When Dumbledore arrives at Privet Drive one summer night to collect Harry Potter, his wand hand is blackened and shrivelled, but he does not reveal why.
Secrets and suspicion are spreading through the wizarding world, and Hogwarts itself is not safe. Harry is convinced that Malfoy bears the Dark Mark: there is a Death Eater amongst them.

Harry will need powerful magic and true friends as he explores Voldemort’s darkest secrets, and Dumbledore prepares him to face his destiny ...

My thoughts
Oh nooo... I'm almost done re-reading the series. I have been postponing this, but I was just to eager to read another Harry Potter book. I almost went into a reading slump, but Harry Potter can always get you out!! I just never want this series to end, but I'm almost there, sadly...

Pros
  • The past: It's so much fun to dive into the past together with Dumbledore and Harry, and to figure out more about Voldemort. You get to know more about his youth, his parents and where he grew up. Voldemort is so vague and untouchable in the first books, although you can feel how evil he is. Now you learn even more about him and I loved that.
  • Darker and more serious: The end is near... Everything about this book feels serious. I remember the same from the movies. It's captured so well how serious life is getting at Hogwarts and even in the Muggle World...
  • Deaths: Oh noo... I LOVE me a book series where important characters die and no one is safe... In this book I lost one of my favorite characters of all time. I think this was a favorite character for a lot of readers and it felt so unreal, especially the way it happened... So well done by J.K. Rowling.
  • Feels like coming home: Everytime I open a Harry Potter book, it feels like coming home. I don't need time to get into the book, after the first sentence I feel like I'm back and I can easily rush through!
  • New characters: J.K. Rowling does this every book in the Harry Potter series; adding new characters. The characters always add something to the story or reveal something about the past and it's so refreshing. It keeps you on edge, you never get bored, it never gets dull. Well done, well done.

Cons
Nope, not this time.

Overall
*Sigh* I'm almost done re-reading this series... I'm very sure I'll never get tired of it. Last week I celebrated my birthday and I got a lot of HP merch and I'm just always so happy to see HP stuff. I will never get enough of the books and the movies are amazing too... I just need a trip to the Harry Potter Movie Studios in London!! #1 fangirl over here.

Memorable quotes from this book
"It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more."

"Dumbledore says people find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right."

Thanks for reading!
I'd love to talk books, so let me know what you think about this book/review.
