Christmas Eve, I love it so much.
2018 is almost over, and I've had a GREAT book year. I don't mind that I didn't complete my Goodreads Challenge. I had fun blogging, hosting giveaways and meeting new people in the BookBlogging-Community.
With this final list I do hope to recommend some awesome books that you maybe haven't read! This is my top 18 of 2018. Want to know why I loved the book so much? 🎄
#1: The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. This is my favorite book EVER. I've read it more than 10 times and I just know I'll keep re-reading it. It's beautiful.
#2: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This was a re-read as well. I've read this book in December of 2017 and loved it right away. Since I was going to read Gemina I decided to re-read this book. It's such a cool concept, that's what makes it so interesting.
#3: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. I'm one of those Harry Potter fangirls. My friends know that I'll always be happy to receive a Harry Potter Goodie. This book was my favorite because things are getting SERIOUS. I have to read the last book... I'm postponing... I don't want this series to finish.
#4: The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas. I have never, ever cried SO HARD while reading a book. This book broke my heart, but I instantly knew I was going to like this series a LOT.
#5: Gemina by Sarah J. Maas. I liked Illuminae more, because of the creepy vibe in that book, but Gemina is just as much fun to read. The concept that started in book 1; you reading a document file, is what they also did in this book. And it included some cool illustrations as well!
#6: Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. YES. I do love this series. I actually love every book by Sarah J. Maas. The characters, worldbuilding and plot-twists is what made this book so good.
#7: For Better And Worse by Margot Hunt. I finished this book in 1 day. It was an awesome psychological page turner. The book kept me on edge all the time.
#8: Genesis by Karin Slaughter. I love this author so much. Karin Slaughter made me fall in love with Crime Thrillers. This book was the best from her that I've read this year, mainly because her 2 series come together in this book.
#9: Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke. You like this book or you don't. I've seen a lot of bad reviews for this book but I loved the writing style so much.
#10: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. This is the start of the series and I liked this book a lot. The books in this series are so action paced and the characters are great. I liked the second book more because of the shocking plot twists.
#11: The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter. This book is not for faint-hearted people. It has some gruesome details, but the plot twists are amazing. This is something different than Slaughter usually writes, since this is not a Thriller from the police POV. I liked it just as much.
#12: Winter by Marissa Meyer. The final book in this series is a BIG one, but it didn't feel like that for me. It is one big adventure and I couldn't wait to know how it would end. This series is so good!
#13: The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness. This book was unique and so creatively written. The chapter beginnings were awesome and the narrator felt like a real person. It was so special to read about anxiety in a book that had a twist of fantasy. Overall it's just something unique.
#14: Uprooted by Naomi Novik. This was a re-read for me and I still loved the book. The wood is the big enemy and it's nice to read a fantasy book that has something evil in it that's not an evil king or queen or other magic being.
#15: Fairest by Marissa Meyer. OH BOY. If you liked the Lunar Chronicles series, you definitely HAVE to read this novella. It's from the wicked Levana's point of view, it was great to get to know her better since she's my favorite villain of all times.
#16: Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. This book is that kind of book where no one is spared. It's such a good feeling when you read a book and you fear for everyone's life, because one of the characters died already... Yes.
#17: Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson. The tension in this book was so high and I did not figure out the plot AT ALL. I'm fond of books where you end them and you did not see it coming.
#18: King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard. Another book by Victoria Aveyard with a great ending and a lot of tension. In this book, you can really feel the dark times that are coming. And I just don't want to read War Storm, because then it's over... It's waiting for me on my shelves!
Thank you for reading!
