Synopsis
On their first date back in law school, Natalie and Will Clarke bonded over drinks, dinner and whether they could get away with murder. Now married, they’ll put the latter to the test when an unchecked danger in their community places their son in jeopardy. Working as a criminal defense attorney, Nat refuses to rely on the broken legal system to keep her family safe. She knows that if you want justice…you have to get it yourself.

My thoughts
FANGIRL MODE ON! This is crazy. I've not been dragged in a book like this for a LONG time. I couldn't stop reading I just HAD to finish it. My back was aching from lying on the couch and I tried 500 different positions, but I did NOT want to get out of my reading spot before finishing this book. It was so intense, a big roller coaster ride full of thrills and excitement. YAY!

Pros
  • Could not put it away: I could not put this book away. It was so exciting. I finished the book in 1 setting more or less. Started reading it Friday night and went to bed and finished it after waking up. The book is so thrilling and exciting. I was eager to learn what was happening and how the book would end.
  • Emotions: This book is full of emotions and hard things that happen in real life. Broken marriages, abuse, anger, trust and the love for your child are all subjects that are present in this book. It was a big roller coaster ride and I sometimes couldn't believe the choices the main characters made for themself and their family. It felt so very real.
  • Pacing: It's written SO GOOD. It's fast paced, it's full of tension, the characters feel like they could just step out of the book. They have their strong sides in their personalities but also their weaknesses. The writing is just so good and with something happening in every chapter, you just keep reading till you finish the book with a huge BOOK HANGOVER.
  • POVS: This is such an interesting part for me. I usually don't really like books with different POVS but Margot Hunt did this so good! You read the POV of both the main characters and I was curious everytime what Natalie was thinking about Will and what Will was thinking about Natalie. Everytime you switch POVS you learn more about this person and some secrets are revealed. It's addicting.
Cons
Naw.

Overall
A very addicting book with real life characters and real life emotions. The tension is high, the POVS are amazing and the writing is just so good. This is one of those books that you finish in 1 sitting, close with a sigh and then have a BIG book hangover. I LOVE it.
