Synopsis
Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza—but who knows what they'll find seven months after the invasion?

Meanwhile, Kady's cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza's ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame from Asha's past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.

With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heroes will fall, and hearts will be broken.

My thoughts
This series belongs in a list of best series I've ever read. The format is unique, the characters are amazing and the action is there. Obsidio is a great ending for a series of books that everyone should read. Even if you don't like Sci-Fi, I'm pretty sure you should give it a try.

Pros
  • Describing: The way everything is described in this book is so well done. I'm able to picture everything in my head. The hardest thing for me, is reading and not being able to picture something. It's usually happening in books that don't take place on earth, but in a place from the author's fantasy. This book is easy to picture and that's a job well done by the authors.
  • Format: It's so entertaining to read. The illustrations, the chat logs, emails and all the different things that are in this book. I'm always curious to see what will come next. I still love the way the swearwords are striped away.
  • Chapters: I noticed that the chapters of camera footage are a bit shorter and this makes the book easier to read. I remember finding those chapters the hardest to read in the other books, but I didn't feel that way with this third book.
  • Small things: It's the small things that make a book. For example; This book contains a Game of Thrones reference that made me so excited.
  • Genius: The final parts of the book are amazing. I read the final 300 pages in one afternoon after work. I was shocked by the ending, it is GENIUS. It was written with thousands of plot twists and even plot twists in plot twists. I could not have hoped for a different or better ending. This is the best!

Cons
🤯...

Overall
I think I could've read another 10 books in this series and this format. I think that Kaufman and Kristoff really put together their strengths to write these amazing books. I do hope they will write more together, because I will EAT those books for breakfast.

Other opinions on this book

Memorable quotes from this book
"Every story needs its hero. And its villain. And its monster."

"It is entirely possible to be alone in a crowded room. Your solitude only compounded by the faces around you. The presence of others serving only to remind you of how lonely you truly are."

"Nik, are you still wearing that ****ing parachute?"
"Maybe..."
"You know you're going to be flying in space, right...?"
