Synopsis
Ness Clark's place amongst the Boulders and at Liam’s side is compromised. First, when her cousin claims Ness helped him elude his death sentence. And then, when August Watt, Ness’s childhood friend, comes home to Boulder.
Although August’s plan was to pledge himself and return to active duty, he finds himself incapable of leaving. This becomes problematic for Liam and Ness, because a mating link has clicked into place between Ness and the ex-marine. If not consummated, the link will fade, but that’ll take months. How long and hard can two people fight a physical attraction that renders their bodies unreceptive to anyone’s but their mates?

My thoughts
After reading the first book and LOVING it so much, I decided to contact the author and requested the second book. I'm hooked on this series, it's so good. I can't wait to read the third and final book in this trilogy. It's also a huge compliment that I gave the book 5 stars, since I'm so critical towards Fantasy YA lately.
Pros
- Humor: The humor and sarcasm in this book are awesome. It's especially what I like and the book is laced with it. The book makes me laugh out loud sometimes and I just love the banter, especially between Ness and Lucas.
- Flow: What I like best about the story is the way it flows. It's not like the main character is doing something stupid or just looking for problems. It's not that she's on an adventure or on a quest. It really just all happens around Ness. As a reader you follow Ness and see how she's coping with the stuff that happens around her.
- Ness: Ness is stubborn and fierce and whole-hearted. She will walk on water for a person and she definitely proves that again in this book. I feel like I'm much more critical towards YA Fantasy main characters as well but I just love Ness. She really stole my heart. Oh, and one thing: Her breakfast preferences are AWESOME.
- Ending: The ending proves again what Ness will do for the people around her. She is being stubborn and making decisions that I'm not so sure about, all to protect somebody else. The ending made me SO nervous and I can't wait to read the next book.
Cons
Wait, whut?
Overall
I'm definitely going to buy the third book in this series. Mainly to support this author, because I believe Olivia Wildenstein deserves to get the attention. I hope the series will get LOADS of more readers, because everyone that loves Fantasy YA will love this series. I recommend you read the books with not too much time in between, it's the best if you still remember the story.
Such a good book, a great trilogy. I'm hooked!

Memorable quotes from this book
"Underneath the pelt and mud, I possessed a heart, and it had been broken. And broken hearts bled tears."
"I'd believed my heart couldn't possibly shatter more than it already had back at Tracy's, but I'd been wrong. The shards had simply been crushed into finer ones."
Thanks for reading!
