Synopsis
I knew we were both in mortal danger. Still, in that instant, I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect - not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

My thoughts
Thanks to Arjen for ranting with me about this book! The first book was quite enjoyable, even though I did feel like some parts were over the top and way too dramatic. Sadly, this book only took up on the dramatic parts, and that's the main reason I gave the book 3 stars. I did enjoy the plot and I liked Jacob as a friend most of the time.
One fun fact: I have the same birthday as Bella!

Pros
  • Sad beginning: The beginning of the book was okay and then it got really sad. I felt for Bella and that part of the book, at least, felt real in the way of feelings. I also saw the story spinning out of control because of the way she felt and I couldn't do anything about it. The beginning of the book was the best part in my opinion and it was well written.
  • Plot: The plot was good. Some things were so clearly obvious to me and Bella didn't see it, that kinda annoyed me, but overall the story was enjoyable. I liked everything that was happening and the story did have a good pacing.
  • Friendship: I love how friendship is a big part in this book. It also touches on the thin line between friendship and romance and that was nice to read. Even though Bella was a shitty friend in my opinion, I liked the way the book also touches on the subject of losing friends.
Cons
  • THE DRAMA: I can't even. This book is SO dramatic. It could've easily been 150 pages shorter without all the dramatic, sappy and over the top emotional scenes. It took away 2 of the stars for me.
Overall
An enjoyable story with a good plot. I loved some of the side characters better than the two main characters (Edward/Bella) in this series. The subjects in this book; losing love, building a friendship and the line between friendship and romance were the most interesting part for me. But the drama, oh the drama...

Other opinions on this book
