One of the most fun things I do, during my reading year, is reading the Short Story Collections by Kevin J. Kennedy during the time of year they are set in. It was such a blast to read these Horror stories during Christmas.

I'm glad that I have a lot more short story books by this author on my TBR, so you can expect more reviews to come for his books!

I feel like this is one of the collections, so far, that had the most variety in stories. I've read two other Christmas Collections and I remember writing in my review that some of the stories felt the same. I did not feel like that at all with this collection.

I have to give a bit of credit to Erica Robyn, a blogger that is also hooked on Kennedy's books. She always reviews the short stories by breaking down her rating, and rating the stories instead of the book. So that's what I did with this book as well, and I felt that it gave me better insight on which stories I liked best! So here we go.

'Twas the Night Before Yuletide by James Matthew Byers
Rating: 3

Poetry is not really my thing. I did understand what was happening in the story, that is NOT something that always occurs when I read poetry. I liked the rhyme and I felt like it was flowing the way rhyming poetry should.

Christmas Eve by Mark Tufo
Rating: 4

Loved the flowing conversation in this story. I also liked the ending where, in those final few sentences, you understand the trick that has been played.

The Advent of Father Hirst By Lex H Jones
Rating: 5

I liked that this story is about advent, I haven't seen many of those. It's quite an original Christmas Horror Short Story theme. I also felt that this story was so creepy. It's definitely the sort of horror I like.

Santa's Claws by Mark Allan Gunnells

Rating: 3
I loved the title. I felt that it was definitely a nice poem, but I would've loved for it to be longer.

Santa's Gift by Mark Allan Gunnells
Rating: 3

The story was okay. I liked the conversation. I would have, again, loved for this story to be a bit longer, and maybe a tad darker also. Things escalated very quickly in this story, that ending was amazing.

White Oleanders by Steven Stacy
Rating: 2

I liked all the Christmas references in this story. I did feel like the main characters made weird decisions, I felt like emotions in this story were out of place and the emotions were sometimes a bit dull as well. The story felt, to me, like it wasn't flowing. It felt like things were just "put" in the story to make it thrilling.

Santa's Elite by Mark Cassell
Rating: 4

I like me a good bit of hatred in a horror story. I also liked the ingenuity in this story. It's all very imaginative, and I can appreciate that.

A Christmas Ghost Story, 1985 by Amy Cross
Rating: 2

This didn't feel that much like a horror story to me. I found the plot not that exciting and the story wasn't thrilling enough for me.

The Christmas Miracle by Christ Miller
Rating: 5

I love me a story where nothing is as it seems. The author keeps throwing twists your way and I couldn't get enough of it.

Down the Bizarro Watering Hole by Kevin J. Kennedy
Rating: 5

I got a bit of A Christmas Carol feeling in this book, and I'm a big fan of that story, so I liked that a lot. I loved how the story ended and I felt that it was a fitting story for this book.

So here ya go, these are all the stories in this Short Story collection. I'd definitely recommend reading this book, any time of year, or any other Short Story collection by Kevin J. Kennedy.

Thanks for reading!
I'd love to talk books; please let me know what you think about this book/review.
