Synopsis
Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. She’s tough, resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to defend the people she loves, but the challenge of a long-lost father and a boyfriend whose life is on the line might be too much for even Ella to overcome.

Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation.

No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all. They may be right.

My thoughts
This was a series that had to grow on me. I wasn't a fan of the first book, the second one got better and this one was my favorite. I'm happy that the drama was not such a big aspect anymore, it dissolved to the background and other things got the upper hand, like sacrifice for the ones you love, learning about your history and finding out that people are not who they are...

Pros
  • Tension: In this book, there wasn't that much drama. There wasn't that much "Oh Reed Royal, you're the most handsome person on earth." I felt like the first two books were laced with that. In this book there are changes happening in Ella's life and not for the good. We get to know more characters, but there is also death and a big mystery.
  • Ending: With this story, I saw no way out. There is a big problem and Reed and Ella are facing hard times. I did not see how this book could ever get a good ending, and I loved that feeling. I was waiting for this book to end in a bad way, or for something shocking to happen. I was not disappointed at the ending and was glad that it wasn't yet another cliffhanger, like the first two books.
  • Different: This book feels different in all forms and ways. Less drama, more tension, a big mystery and an ending that made me happy. I took a little peek at what the upcoming books are looking like and I was glad with what I saw. The Royal family intrigues me and I'm thrilled I'll get to know other characters in the upcoming books.
Cons
  • Characters: I'm still not the biggest fan of the characters. I just don't feel that connection at all and no one is really likeable to me, except for Easton. When reading, I just want to root for the main character and feel for them and be involved in their life. With this book I just didn't really mind if any of them would die, I would just love the plot twist...
Overall
The first three books are all about Ella and Reed. I've seen that the next books also feature some other Royals as main characters and I'm happy about that. It's a bold move from Erin Watt, but I do feel that we've seen the most from Ella and Reed. This book was the best so far. It had tension and a great ending.

Thanks for reading!
