Synopsis
These Royals will ruin you.
Easton Royal has it all: looks, money, intelligence. His goal in life is to have as much fun as possible. He never thinks about the consequences because he doesn’t have to. Until Hartley Wright appears, shaking up his easy life. She’s the one girl who’s said no, despite being attracted to him. Easton can’t figure her out and that makes her all the more irresistible.
Hartley doesn’t want him. She says he needs to grow up. She might be right.

Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.

My thoughts
The fun thing about this series is that you get to know most of the Royal brothers in first person. I've read the books about Reed, about Gideon and this one is about Easton. He has been one of my favorite characters this entire series. It was fun to listen to this book, Hartley is a welcome edition to the cast of characters as well. She seems serious and not as shallow as some of them.

Pros
  • Easton: Easton has been one of my favorite characters throughout all the books in this series. He is light hearted, funny, sweet and complex. It was a ride to get to know him and to find out more about the way he thinks. He was a bit of a mystery before this book. I always wondered how he was coping with his problems and all the while keeping his positive attitude.
  • Short: The book isn't that short, but the story did feel small, in a good way. It was so interesting that I was rushing through. I also like that there weren't that many distractions. In some of the other books we have murder, deaths and lawsuits. In this book it was mainly about Easton and Hartley and that's what I mean by a small story. It just focuses on the one thing.
  • Ending: The ending was so thrilling! Way better than some of the other endings in this series. There were some endings that were so unbelievable and weird to me. This one had my adrenaline pumping and you're thinking all the while: This isn't the end, right?! But it is!

Cons
  • Easton: I'm not sure if I still love Easton as much as I did before this book. He keeps saying: "I'm a Royal." Like; Stop using your name to justify everything you do. You really see his other side in this book and I'm not sure if I liked it that much. I kinda felt like this book ruined him a bit for me. I hope the next book will make up for it!
  • Hartley's secret: No. This was such a weird story. I was convinced that she was keeping such a big secret. It just didn't match up, it was so weird and I didn't buy it.
Overall
Finally a book about my favorite Royal. I'm not sure if he's my absolute favorite still, because you also see his other side in this book, but one thing is for sure: Easton is light hearted, sweet and positive. That was a nice change, compared to some of the other Royals. I also loved that the story mainly focused on Easton and Hartley, there were no other distractions. It gave me all the vibes of a good, romantic story.

Thanks for reading!
