Synopsis
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed.

But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh.

As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

My thoughts
I have NO IDEA how I gave this book 3 stars before. I enjoyed every page, the writing style, the light feel, the humor, the telling voice of Lara Jean. The book was perfect for me at this moment and it was just a really nice feel-good book. Of course I already knew the plot, because it was a re-read, maybe that made me enjoy it even more.

Pros
  • Lara Jean: Lara Jean is so lovely. The character was amazingly written. She has a very clear personality, with certain character traits and her hobbies also fit her very well. I think that's one of the strongest things in this book: The characters are so well written, I enjoyed them all.
  • Story: The story is original. I love how the letters got sent out, it's something that you hope will never happen to you. Lara Jean handles it really well and she just goes with the flow and that makes for a very light story. Of course, we all know who sent the letters. I knew it right away, when I read the book for the first time.
  • Christmas: This book was so well timed for me. I loved the Christmas vibe! I'm a real Christmas lover, my own tree is up already and I listen to Christmas music almost every day, so this book really had that extra layer for me.
  • Ending: The ending was lovely. I'm curious how the story will continue, I've not read the second book yet. A lot of people are Team Peter, but I'm not a 100% sure if I trust him enough. I think Josh is sweet too, but I also feel like I don't know him well enough.
Cons
  • Plot: I figured out who sent the letters right away. The first time, that was a bummer for me, but this second time, it didn't bother me that much.
Overall
This is a lovely feel-good book with amazing characters. It's well fit to read in December, so if you don't know this book yet, I'd highly recommend you read it! It's easy to rush through these 400+ pages and I'm sure everybody will find a character they love. I'm curious if you're Team Peter of Team Josh!

  Memorable quotes from this book
"Love is scary: it changes; it can go away. That's part of the risk. I don't want to be scared any more."

Thanks for reading!
