Synopsis
""You have one hour to live."" Those are the only words on the phone call. Then they hang up. Surely, a prank? A mistake? A wrong number? Anything but the chilling truth... That someone is watching, waiting, ready to take your life in one hour. But why?
The job of finding out falls to DI Helen Grace: a woman with a track record in hunting killers. However, this is one case where the killer seems to always be one step ahead of the police and the victims. With no motive, no leads, no clues - nothing but pure fear - an hour can last a lifetime...

My thoughts
This series really is a hit for me. I'm recommending it to others quite often, to be honest. The last 5 books were al 5-star reads for me! This book was definitely good, and I was rushing through. But there was one little thing that made me give this book 4 stars. Still recommend it!

Pros
  • Easy to read: The books in this series are so easy to read and that wasn't any different in this book. There are short chapters, not too long sentences and I'm just able to devour these books every time. I was rushing through and easily reading 100 pages a day, which is quite a lot for me.
  • Flashbacks: I do feel like M.J. Arlidge comes with something new every book. In this book, it were flashbacks through a written book. It was actually a story within a story. I loved it so much. Especially because you feel like you're getting more answers every time you read it... but do you?
  • Plot twists: I feel like Arlidge is the king of plot twists. Every book is thrilling and has a lot of plot twists. With every question that was answered, two new questions popped up. I did feel like you get all the answers you need at the end.
  • Ending: What I liked about the ending was that it leaves our beloved Helen Grace in a really tricky situation. I'm SO curious how this will play out in the next book.
Cons
  • Ending: Overall, I thought the ending was predictable. The big story that is wrapped up in this book didn't feel all that refreshing from other books in this series and the fact that I could predict it made me a bit sad. And that's why I took away 1 star.
Overall
One of my favorite series that I'm currently reading. I recommend everyone that loves thrillers and an unique main character to start reading the first book in this series: Eeny Meeny. This is one of those series that rewards you if you read every book. Story lines continue, people die, others are added to the cast and that's what I love! So, go! Read it! :)
